Susan Pennebaker, J.D. received her B.A. (1976) and J.D. (1978) from Louisiana State University. She began her legal career at Exxon and practiced there and in Houston law firms for twelve years. In 1990 she joined Pennebaker as a principal and has focused on consulting with attorneys to develop more effective communication strategies in complex litigation. Her focus has been on energy and toxic tort litigation, and she works closely with trial teams on theme development, presentation strategy, jury strategy and demonstrative evidence development. Susan has been an instructor in Demonstrative Evidence for the Southwestern Paralegal Institute, and she is currently on the Board of Trustees of the Louisiana State University Law Center. Member, American Society of Trial Consultants.
Ward Pennebaker received his B.A., cum laude, in psychology from Harvard University. His work experience includes creative positions at advertising agencies and at Exxon before forming Pennebaker in 1984. Ward works with both corporations and attorneys on message development, presentation strategy, research and graphic design. He developed the Strategic Guardrails® process, a proprietary process used by corporations in the U.S, Europe and Latin America to develop their messaging and positioning in the marketplace. He is also a frequent speaker on the uses of technology in presentations for toxic tort litigation. During the past four years, he has worked extensively on asbestos litigation throughout the U.S. He is a frequent lecturer on the uses of technology in trial, persuasion strategies and branding. He has also testified as an expert witness in marketing, most recently in litigation surrounding the collapse of Internet-based companies.
DeAnn Decker, Litigation Design Director, is a graduate of the University of Houston. As a member of the Pennebaker team since 1989, DeAnn has particular expertise in designing graphics for use in trial. She is recognized for her ability to grasp her clients' concepts and to produce an uncompromised and targeted product. Her knowledge in graphic communications, architecture and interior design lends a full dimension to solving complex issues.
Melissa Carson, Manager, has a B.A. in communications from the University of Houston. She has been with Pennebaker for eight years and has extensive experience in assisting in all aspects of the litigation support process, including planning, data base development and analysis, technical implementation, client interface and coordination with multiple team members.
Brad Leone, Director of Public Relations, brings diverse public relations and strategic communications experience to Pennebaker, having worked with companies of all sizes and in industries from energy, technology, healthcare, automotive and manufacturing to financial services, nonprofit and consumer.
Matt Pennebaker, B.S. (New Orleans) graduated cum laude in Business Management and Marketing in 2008 from Tulane University's Freeman School of Business. Mr. Pennebaker's experience includes marketing, strategy and video production. He consults with attorneys on presentation technology and document management, and assists the firm in courtroom presentation and account services.
